Recently a good friend of mine got the opportunity of a lifetime that makes me a little green with envy that I didn’t think about it first...studying abroad in Australia! When we think of where to study fashion, we normally associate the fashion capitols like Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, or Milan. Ask yourself if you’ve heard of Australia being associated with fashion, because I sure haven’t!
Australia in my opinion is in the making for becoming one of the world’s new fashion capitols! Once a year they have their very own Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for Spring and Summer Collections featuring top Australian designers. This year’s fashion week is to be held April 8 through April 12 in Sydney, so fashionistas it’s time to pack your baggage for Australia Fashion Week!
Australian culture is very laid back and some would call it minimalist. They never like to send out vibes that they are better than anyone, so no bragging about how you just got those new designer sunglasses for the trip! Australians are modest and humble, so reflecting that in what you wear while traveling there is a must. Last thing you want to do is offend that good looking man on the beach catching your glances! Another fun fact, I hear the locals aren’t too fond of tourists saying, “G’day Mate” so leave the accents at home.
I’ve put together my top ten looks from the 2013 Spring Runway shows that would fit in perfect with the laid back lifestyle of the Aussies!
What better way to say minimalist but also stay gorgeously chic than WHITE OUT!

This Missoni swim piece is one of a kind
It has just the right amount of spark to stand out.

The countdown to Australian Fashion Week has BEGUN! I think we are more than ready for a successful and of course fashionable trip to Sydney! Can't wait to see what these Australian designers will show this year!
