Denmark + Sweden

View of Copenhagen from the Round Tower.

One more adventure to add to the Baggage list, and this time I traveled solo.  Copenhagen was such an easy transition though,  if you're nervous to tackle a new country alone this is the place to dip your feet in the water!  Most everyone speaks English (even though Danish is their first language), the weather wasn't too dreary (end of October was a prime month albeit with some scattered rains, pack that scarf and umbrella!), and the city is small enough that pretty much everything you want to see is easily accessible with public transport & some walking (get yourself a week pass to ride the Metro and bus endlessly).  People even get up and give up their seats for the elderly, so polite!

This trip I mainly packed a couple leather jackets, a lighter overcoat, lots of scarves, and boots (classic autumn attire).  I packed about three pairs of different style pants (shorts being one of them, throw on some tights along with them and you should keep perfectly warm.  I did!)  I packed a couple dresses in case of emergency, never know when you might have to dress up.  And coincidentally my sweet brother (who hosted me while he studies abroad there) got us tickets to see a ballet centered around Frank Sinatra songs.  So I was very thankful to have had a little black dress, tights, and cute ballet flats (how fitting!)  I am thankful also because the Danish queen decided to pop in and take in the sights and sounds of the exact same ballet, that exact same night.  All had to rise when she entered the room, quite the entrance.

I enjoyed getting all bundled up, seeing as though we don't really get to do that here in California where the sun shines continuously (no complaints, just a fun change!)  Need help putting all those items together?  Check out how I did, and try and get to some of these locations!  These were by far my favorite of the trip :)

Copenhagen, Denmark

My previous post also includes a couple things to check out in Copenhagen, and I HAD to include the colors throughout the city!  Reds (on the rooftops and in the trees), greens (popping through the cracks in the cobblestone streets & in the juice bars all around), and yellows (painted on the buildings & dripping from leaves!)  Gorgeous.

Dragor, Denmark
This city was about a 40 minute bus ride away from the capital, Copenhagen.  And it is well worth the trip!  We got out and were immediately immersed in what felt like a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale (appropriate since H.C. Anderson was from Denmark, and author of the classic Little Mermaid, hence the Little Mermaid statue so proudly exhibited in one of the harbors).  But the moss covered roofs of the houses, and the flowers spewing out the basket of the bike propped up against a cottage looking home was reason enough that this is probably my favorite place of this trip.  Plus, you can walk the 'Meadow Land' and walk amongst sheep roaming in the grass.  LOVE it!

To top off Dragor's natural charm, they had some Christmas shops set up.  LOVE it even more!

Malmo, Sweden
Check another country off your list, and take the train to Sweden!  The city of Malmo is pretty tiny, you can go into the churches, treat yourself to a Swedish goodie, and p.s. we may have cheated in the food game a little bit and ate at the T.G.I. Friday's we found amongst the bakeries and cafes.  Whoops! We just couldn't contain our excitement.

This year has been filled with so many adventures, and I thank God every single day for giving me such opportunities to take in His beautiful world.
"You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance" Psalm 65:11, perfect! :)

Happy Holidays & Safe Travels as Always,
